Irish mobile phone habits survey 2020

42% of those surveyed have dropped their phone down the toilet
94% of respondents agreed that phone usage and screen time increased during the pandemic
The fridge is the most common random location where phones have been misplaced

Our recent survey on Irish mobile phone habits found Irish people are extremely accident prone with mobile phones.

90% of respondents have broken or cracked their mobile phone screen, while 42% have dropped their phone down a toilet!

The majority of the broken phones and cracked screens came for accidental drops and mostly out of pockets, but some respondents laid the blame on their children or friends.

90% of respondents would go for a screen repair rather than replacing their handset.

We can help with the broken phones and screen repairs, just find your make and model here and we'll collect it from your door. You can also prevent it from happening in the first place with a screen protector or protective case from Mint+.

The fridge was the most common random location where respondents have found their phone, while car engines, public bins, and even on top of an elephant were other locations.

Asked if you could pick a well-known person to have in your phone contacts, Normal People star, Paul Mescal, Leather Jacket Guy and Irish actors Amy Huberman and Jamie Doran were among the Irish favourites.

Contacts from outside of the Emerald Isle included Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, British comedian Joe Lycett, American talk show host Oprah Winfrey and the 44th president of the United States Barack Obama.

In our final funny question 65% of respondents admitted to prank calling a friend, we didn't go into details...maybe next year.
